Module 8

1. The Measure of all Things: Greek Art and the Human Figure is the video i chose because after watching the required film I was interested in how the depiction of the human body played a role in advancements in art.

2. Key concepts from the required video (More Human Than Human) seemed to be the interpretation of the depiction of the human figure. While the Greek Art and Human figure video seemed to dig a little deeper into the latent meaning of some of these figures by exploring the motion and emotion of the figures.

3. These videos relate to the text by way of advancements in early art history that may still shape the world of art today. For instance, Duccio and Giotto's methods of creating space or the way sculptures would give meaning to human figures with motion or exaggerated features.

4. I think both of the videos were very interesting in the fact that things in the modern world that may be considered the norms of art at one point in time were innovations. The videos give a solid understanding of how cultural development will play a role in advances in art as well

module 7

1. The first video i watched was the Architecture: The Science of Design video. One of the key concepts from this video was the emphasis on the relationship between environment and the structure being built.  Things from the environment that may seem very simple like win or climate play a large role in how a structure is built and the materials used to do so. the second video i watched was the Frank Gehry video Architecture as Art. A key concept from this video is the personal connection between the architect and their work as well as the emotional connection between the structure and the people that will directly interact with it whether its where they're living or working.

2. The videos relate to the reading in the sense of solidifying the the process of architecture, the materials used in architecture, as well as the non-physical aspect of architecture.

3. Frank Gehry's video was the more interesting video of my two choices. Similar to the Emmanuel Fillion video, the Architecture as Art video is interesting because it goes into the mind of the creator. This adds more depth to the personal process of creating a structure.

4. I chose the Frank Gehry video because of the inside scoop on architecture that it gives. I think a crucial part of appreciating a structures design or the process in which a structure is built is getting insight directly from the artist.

Module 6

1. The glass and ceramics video were simple. It discussed the process, materials, as well as the uses of ceramics. A key concept amongst many from the video on sculptures was the mental and physical process of creating sculptures.

2. The videos relate to the text as a more visual explanation of the readings.  In the reading a lot of materials are discussed and in the videos one can see how these materials are used in many ways. For instance, in the ceramics video "slip" was something that caught my attention. In high school when my 3D art class used clay, we had a method called "Slip and Score" which was how we assembled other clay parts together to make one.

3. The films were very interesting to me, Especially the sculpture video because it gives a greater understanding of the process. I liked the way that it began based on Emmanuel Fillion's methods of preparation, the materials he used, his experience, as well as other artist and the history of gather certain materials (marble)
